Jonathan Edwards 1703-1758, was and still is a very influential Puritan. Edwards is widely considered one of America’s most important and impactful theologians. Possibly his most famous sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God,” preached in 1741, has had more impact than any other in American history, it is still affecting people to this day. Some of his best written works are “The Freedom of the Will” published in 1754 which examines the human will and “Religious Affections” published in 1746 in which Edwards explains what Christian conversion should look like.
