John Knox (1514-1572), Knox was a 16th-century preacher who believed that his people should be able to read the Bible in their own language. He was a key figure in turning a nation of Catholics into one of Protestants. His fire and brimstone sermons and teachings often put him at odds with the Roman Catholic Mary, Queen of Scots. He founded the Presbyterian Church of Scotland and his great personal efforts did much to not only reform Scotland, but impacted England as well.
